British solo artist Rae Travers has teamed up with Seattle-based producer Andy D. Park to present her debut single.

Rae Travers – Love In The City

Rae Travers has already been championed by BBC Music Introducing and KISS FM and she’s been recording with a renowned line-up of musicians including Jessica Dobson (Deep Sea Diver) Keith Lowe (Fiona Apple) Abby Gunderson (Phoebe Bridgers) and Sean T Lane (Ann Wilson, Silver Torches).

On the decision to work with Andy D. Park, Travers felt that the producer understood her mission to capture the nostalgic elements of a live sound, with the deep emotional dynamics found in a studio setting.

“Love in the City” is a stunning track that captures a story of queer love and acceptance amongst the LGBTQIA+ community. Inspired by an opening scene in an episode of the critically-acclaimed American programme “Euphoria”, Travers aligned topics in the show to her own experiences of being in love and living her truth.

With “honest lyricism” at her core, the artist blends 70s and 80s-style electronic tones with contemporary production and soundscapes to create a refreshed, retro sound. About the track, Travers explains: “I wanted the song to depict the moment I walked into my first queer bar and instantly felt at home and understood. It also references my first queer relationship and the yearning to be back in that moment after having to leave London”.

Performing at small-but-mighty venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, the Hare and Hounds, Jam House and the Sunflower Lounge, Travers’ style has also gained the attention of individuals at Warner Chappell UK’s Summer of Pride Writing Camp.

Travers is set to return to the Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham on 30th June.

“A wonderful anthem for the LGBTQIA+ community. A rich, emotional ballad with a powerful message, Rae Travers’ vocal deliverance paired with the warm production of Andy D. Park, will have this track on every Pride playlist around the world”.
