GLYTSH Have The Power To Drive You Insane On Dissocia

Dissocia the new single from GLYTSH is a darkly dystopian tale exploring the world of dissociative disorders.

GLYTSH – Dissocia

Dissocia is inspired by Anthony Neilson’s play The Wonderful World of Dissocia a play about a young woman suffering from dissociative disorder.

The powerful video directed by Ulrich Von Ricken follows the two acts of Anthony Neilson’s play with the first a vivid recreation of the protagonist’s dream-like imaginary life, full of colour, and the second a bleak, black-and-white presentation of struggle. In this case, both parts are played by lead singer Jennifer Diehl who dances, twists and contorts in a mesmerising fashion to a thunderous soundtrack of pounding drums and Claire Genoud’s searing guitars.

The lyrics to Dissocia are haunting in their power. The refrain ‘Mud in the veins’ stays with you. “Under your skin. Mud in the veins. I dissolve love in the rain.”

Anyone familiar with GLYTSH will recognise the unmistakable GLYTSH style, Jennifer and Claire haven’t just created a band, they have created a hugely distinctive brand.  Their trademark hot pink neon lights contrast perfectly with the stark black and white canvas of this video.

“GLYTSH have done it again, Dissocia is their best work yet. Intense, unnerving and chilling we can’t help but watch again and again.”

About GLYTSH

The duo formed in early 2022 when French singer Jennifer Diehl and Swiss guitarist Claire Genoud met in a cover band and decided to start writing together. Their music has been described as badass and empowering, unique and modern-sounding. GLYTSH aims to empower and inspire their listeners, especially young women.

In just a few months, GLYTSH have sold out their first show in a 150-capacity room in London (we were there) and completed their first UK tour opening for NYC-based band Brass Against in venues including O2 Academy Manchester and London Electric Brixton.

Previous single “V.H.S (Vulgar Holy Spirit)” picked up radio play on BBC Radio 1 (Future Alternative with Nels Hylton and BBC Introducing Rock with Alyx Holcombe), as well as Total Rock Radio, Amazing Radio and Radio X.

GLYTSH have 3 releases planned for 2024. A brand new single, a live EP and a full-length album. We can’t wait to hear what comes next.
