Absentee Brings The Positive Vibes On ‘Feeling Myself’

Absentee - Feeling Myself

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, rapper Absentee has spent the last two years mastering his craft and maturing as an artist, becoming a significant force in Ireland’s underground rap landscape, a clear example of this is his newest song Feeling Myself.

Absentee – Feeling Myself

One of the main characteristics of this MC is his ability to depict real-life situations in his art and, by extension, make his work very relatable. His last two EPs Love Letterz of an Absent Mind and Absent Hives, were received positively by specialized media like Nialler9, BBC Radio Across The Line, and Hot Press, among others.

Taking advantage while the iron is hot, Absentee has shared his newest piece called Feeling Myself. His unusual rapping style finds its perfect match with the hallucinating production on this tune. A wall of layered beats and hazy effects embellish this performer’s distinctive delivery, adding a very uncommon but fascinating flow to this song.

Lyrically speaking, this is probably the most positive work that Absentee has created til this day, illustrating that wonderful and priceless feeling of just being alright in life:

When I wrote this song, it was a sunny morning in May, just at the start of summer, I was off work for the day and had no plans – it was perfect. I woke up feeling happy with how life was going, this was a strange new sensation and since then it has been happening more frequently. “Lately I’m not feeling myself, not killing myself” was the realisation to me, that I was doing something right because I wasn’t feeling bad, anxious or stressed about how my life was at that moment, I chalk that up to making music.”

Feeling Myself is the perfect feel-good anthem and a refreshing alternative to modern Hip-hop.

Despite his youth, Absentee already counts with significant experience as a live performer. Following several gigs as a support act, he sold out his first show as a headliner at the Workman’s Club in Dublin, this works as a reminder that this lad means serious business and will keep working hard to reach his ultimate goal.
