WOLFS Howl On New Single ‘Take Me On’

Hannah Castell (guitar and vocals) and Rhiannon Waller (drums and vocals) met serendipitously in 2016, “after finding each other through the magic of Gumtree” and formed the rock duo WOLFS.

WOLFS – Take Me On

They released their first EP ‘No Good For Me’ a year later and were described on a gig poster at the time as ‘Ace bubblegum punk’. Two EPs and six singles later and the bubblegum has been well and truly spent and spat out. Now bearing a sharp set of teeth, WOLFS announce their latest single ‘Take Me On’ with a howl.

The track is just over two minutes of raw and nervy guitar backed by a driving drum beat, with vocals that antagonise, throwing down the gauntlet to anyone foolhardy enough to challenge them: “If you wanna take me on, you better pick up the rhythm”. With both a sense of danger and allure, it makes the duo a force to be reckoned with. The echoed vocals in the first few verses gives the track a soft pop rim that allows for tension to build up beneath the surface, released in the roar of the chorus. It is a track that doesn’t outstay its welcome, delivering its message in a Runaways-style burst and setting out the rules of engagement before leaving.

“It’s a song that channels the frustrations of sexism and people underestimating you, which I think everyone can relate to in some way.”

On their latest release, WOLFS are on the prowl. Cross them at your peril.
