Right Chord Music favourites To Kill A King will be releasing their highly anticipated debut album ‘Cannibals With Cutlery’, produced by Jim Abbiss (Adele, Bombay Bicycle Club), Charlie Hugall (Florence & The Machine, The Maccabees) and Andy Green (Keane, Paolo Nutini), on 24th February, 2013.  The excellent new single ‘Cold Skin’ will be released on the same day.

We’re delighted that the band agreed to take time out from their busy schedule to pick their favourite new music of the year.

Josh’s pick : Pigeon by St Spirit

These guys played at one of our acoustic nights and I was entranced by their harmonies. This song gets really epic and the lyrics are great. There’s a nervous energy to it that I really like, it almost leaps out of the speakers.

Ralph’s pick : Mezzanine by Shields

So this band supported us on our last UK tour. Great guys, catchy tunes, funny video, I expect big things from them soon.

Ian’s pick: Call Me In The Afternoon by Half Moon Run

Half Moon Run are a band from Canada, I think. They’re a great mixture of Local Natives, Radiohead and a bit of Jeff Buckley. I think they might be cool and one of them has nice long hair. Here is a video of theirs.

Ben’s pick : I’m His Girl by Friends

Friends played after us at Field Day. I didn’t think they’d be any good because they were so fit. But they were good so I checked out their album. This is my favourite track. It’s super-cool. You hear it quite a lot in adverts now.

Jon’s pick : I Don’t Know by Peter and Kerry

Similar to Ben, these played with us at Sofar Sounds and I thought they wouldn’t be very good because they looked so well turned out. However, I was proven very wrong. Their album has since entertained us for many hours on long drives in the van!
