Bossa Bandits bring Brazil to Britain with ‘Don’t Ask Me’

Bossa Bandits

Although I really enjoy travelling and seeing new locations, I always find time to revisit some amazing places of my native state of Ceara, in northeastern Brazil. One of these places is the Jericoacoara beach, a beautiful tropical paradise with intense nightlife. Of course, such an enchanting place is also quite inspiring.

Bossa Bandits – Don’t Ask Me

And inspiration was exactly what happened to Clive B Bossa, who, during his trips to Jericoacoara, ended up falling in love with bossa nova, a Brazilian musical genre that combines samba and cool jazz. An example of a bossa song is the iconic Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes composition ‘The Girl From Ipanema’. In love with such elegant musical expression, Clive, a talented guitarist and percussionist, returned to London and began writing his own brand of Brazilian-inspired music.

In 2015 Clive formed the group Bossa Bandits and started to earn a solid reputation, especially after teaming up with Grammy Award-winning musician, producer and songwriter Phil Ramocon. Joining forces with other equally talented musicians, they released the excellent single ‘Don’t Ask Me’ last November.

With a light-hearted smile, ‘Don’t Ask Me’ tests the dynamics of digital relationships through a unique take on bossa, old-school funk, and pop, culminating in an explosion of mesmerising musicianship. Built around a lively groove, the song features a cleverly assembled wall of sound, complete with bossa-styled acoustic guitar and flute fills and a magnificent chorus. The first-rate track, along with other recently released singles, is set to be part of Bossa Bandits’ upcoming album ‘All True Stories’.

Bossa, one of Brazil’s national treasures, is certainly in good hands. Clive and his Bandits pay homage to the classic bossa sound while crafting something new and exciting. Make sure to check their work and don’t miss their upcoming album. I won’t.
