Alt-Pop artist Hongza drops visual for ‘Cure Me’ to compliment debut EP ‘Gen Z’

British-Vietnamese Hongza is slowly, but surely becoming the name on everyone’s lips in the indie, Alt-pop, shoegaze world. With a thread of strong single releases under his belt, he has recently delivered his carefully compacted and perfectly presented debut EP ‘Gen Z’ and now here comes a new visual for track ‘Cure Me’.

Hongza – Cure Me

Focusing on themes and topics his generation are oh-too-familiar with, Hongza’s lyrical content is delivered in effortless shoegaze, dreamy-pop style. Covering all from toxic social media culture (Accolades), online dating cycles (Dream Sleep Eat), break-up recovery, falling in love (Cure Me) and being comfortable with your identity and ethnicity (Identity Crisis), Hongza delicately details the many experiences faced by Generation Z.

Pioneered by cathartic vocals and underpinned by a hypnotic bassline, ‘Dream Eat Sleep’ is an explosive ode to the trials and tribulations of dating in the 21st Century, particularly how exhausting being caught up in ‘finding the one’ through superficial encounters on dating apps can be. On the contrary, track ‘Cure Me’ is originally about growing up and recovering from a break-up, but Hongza states it is also about finding your true friends, spending time with your family and learning to love yourself during a rough time.

‘Cure Me is originally about growing up and recovering from a break-up but my view on the track has slightly changed. It’s not only about falling in love, it’s about recovering from heartbreak through finding your true friends, spending time with your family and learning to love yourself during a rough time.” – Hongza
