THELIXX goes ‘Maniac’ with their brand new single

Hailing from Pontypridd, South Wales, three-piece indie-pop outfit THELIXX has released a new track called Maniac.

THELIXX – Maniac

After releasing 2 successful singles over the last year (Magic and Roam) THELIXX recently announced the debut of their newest tune called Maniac, this particular song distinguishes itself for being a bit more melancholic and thoughtful.

Just like their 2 previous tracks, this one was produced by Scouting For Girls frontman Roy Stride and Alex Oldroyd who has worked in the past with legendary acts such as James Blunt and the Kaiser Chiefs.

While Magic and Roam felt more upbeat and optimistic, Maniac takes things a little bit slower in comparison, as far as the instrumentation and the arrangements go, THELIXX managed to create an immersive piece of work with one of the catchiest choruses you are gonna hear this week: “stop watching the TV is making you blind…”.

The lyrics have a very interesting context as well, analyzing the dangers of relying too much on the media and the current internet era we live in, quoting the band itself:

We’re not really a politically charged band. We take music so seriously, but we don’t take ourselves or necessarily all our songs too seriously either. Maniac is one that sits in the middle, with comedy masking an underpinning theme of media dependence and social addiction. We literally grew up during the Facebook revolution. We really don’t know life without the internet, despite being able to just switch it off”.

Maniac is a beautiful work of indie pop, the dreamy production and clever lyrics make this one of the most outstanding releases in the current independent scene.

Maniac was released on March 11th and it’s available on all streaming platforms, along with a humorous music video
