Static Ella offers a compelling preview of her upcoming EP with On My Mind, a self-produced track that dives deep into the emotional landscape of anxiety and fear.
Static Ella – On My Mind
Hailing from New Zealand and now based in Brighton, Static Ella is a songwriter and producer who embraces a strong DIY approach, crafting all her music from the solitude of her attic studio. Her sound draws inspiration from contemporary artists like Billie Eilish and Imogen Heap, as well as trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack.
Static Ella blends pop sensibilities with a darker, brooding undertone, often exploring themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the more shadowed aspects of the human condition. Her talent extends well beyond the studio, on stage, she delivers immersive live performances inspired by electronic acts like Maribou State and Bonobo. Her shows have been praised for their atmospheric depth and ability to completely absorb the audience.
Her latest single, On My Mind, marks a significant step forward in her career. As only her second fully self-produced track, it showcases a leap in her production skills, embracing layered, textured soundscapes. Thematically, the song offers a strikingly honest portrayal of anxiety and its relentless grip, revealing a raw and vulnerable side of Static Ella’s artistry.
From a production standpoint, On My Mind deepens its themes by surrounding the listener in a dense, immersive soundscape. The aching is felt not only through its introspective lyrics but also through its hypnotic electronic layers, each note laced with a quiet intensity that lingers.
“On My Mind is a beautifully introspective piece, lyrically sharp and carried by a production style that’s both delicate and immersive.”
