Listen to grunge and play video games with Andreww’s ‘Shadow Love’

Andreww’s ‘Shadow Love’ feels classic – not just because of the 90s grunge reverberating guitars, but the lyrics that speak of love, lust, self-doubt, emotional confusion.

Andreww Shadow Love

One day, someday soon, I’ll be at a house party. After I’ve got over the initial anxiety of being in a group of more than 6 people, I’ll wander through the groups of people, breathing in smoke, pretending I’m in a music video, feeling far sexier than I probably am. In my head, ‘Shadow Love’ will be playing. Or maybe even on the speakers if someone passes me the aux.

Andreww’s ‘Shadow Love’ feels classic – not just because of the 90s grunge reverberating guitars, but the lyrics that speak of love, lust, self-doubt, emotional confusion. ‘I don’t know how to feel, but I feel nothing’, sings Andreww, with vocals full of attitude. And after a worldwide pandemic, I’m sure I’m not the only listener going, ‘Me too, babe.’

Emerging artist Andreww is still relatively new – his debut single released in 2020 – but that doesn’t mean he’s playing it safe. ‘Shadow Love’ comes paired with an interactive video game in old-school 8-bit style, and with a background as an international fashion model, it’s clear he’s an artist who considers the whole picture. (By the way, I did try the game, and no, I did not get very far.) ‘Shadow Love’ has solid hooky melodies and an infectious groove, with clear influences from the likes of Nirvana and Chris Isaak, but pairs modern trap beats and a subby bass to save it from being too dated. This is a catchy release with a nice mix of the familiar and the modern, a solid paving stone to lay on Andreww’s musical journey.

‘Shadow Love’ is now available on all major platforms. You can also play the interactive game here
