Today, we’re delighted to share the video exclusive of ‘Vessels,’ the new single from Natalie Holmes.
As a music blog that champions unsigned and independent artists, it’s hard not to be impressed with Natalie Holmes. Still in her twenties, she has built her fan base from scratch, uploading her first video to YouTube seven years ago she has now amassed over over 1,000,000 views. Vessels delivers a delightful, homespun charm that feels honest, authentic and hugely comforting.
Natalie explains the story behind Vessels…
“Vessels was actually triggered by feeling hungry. I’m a big eater and hate feeling hunger pangs so usually snack constantly, but one day it felt eye-opening. I felt empty, not in a bad way but in a way where I was a blank canvas and could think completely clearly and choose to fill up the space inside with whatever else I wanted. Aside from a realisation of how much I take being full of food for granted, I thought of all the other things that matter. An image came to me, of our bodies being vessels that can take our inner beings and our happiness with us wherever we go, even if we are quite literally struggling for a place to settle. Vessels depicts a connectedness with oneself that I only dream of maintaining, one that we grasped as new born babies before being sucked into the whirlwind of careers, ownership, looks, and validating our lives through anything BUT what we can find already existing in ourselves.”
