The New Weavers Rejoice In The Familiar ‘Live at Black Tornado’

The New Weavers Live at Black Tornado on Right Chord Music

Fans of Bolan, Bowie, Jagger and Page will feel at home listening to the new mini album ‘Live at Black Tornado’ by Danish retro rockers The New Weavers.

The New Weavers – Live at Black Tornado

Let’s be clear, there is nothing especially ‘New’ about the New Weavers, but frankly, who cares! This mini-album is a lot of fun. If, like me, you are somewhat sick of polished pop and the endless stream of solo artists clogging up your social feeds, you might find solace in The New Weavers.

The band has already received strong media support, with GAFFA, Denmark’s leading music publication, quick to heap praise on them, while UK radio station Planet Rock added their debut single ‘Don’t Make a Scene’ to their playlist rotation.

The Danish retro rockers have a sound that rejoices in the familiar; listening to this EP is like listening to the history of rock ‘n roll. Listen long enough and you’ll find nods to all your favourites of yesterday. You’ll hear The Rolling Stones, The Faces, T-Rex and Led Zeppelin, and it’s wonderful.

“The biggest compliment I can pay to The New Weavers is simply that this is a band I would absolutely love to join.”

Live at Black Tornado is a joyous cacophony, with six songs recorded live in Copenhagen by nine immensely talented musicians. Live albums can polarise; they either elevate a band to a new level or flatten the sound. In this case, you are left with the feeling that this is a live show you would love to see for yourself.

The New Weavers are at their best when energy levels are high, and I found myself gravitating to tracks 3 (Main Music Movers), 4 (Mexico), and EP closer Susie; all three are guaranteed foot-stompers.

Five of the six tracks on this EP are brand new, while track two, ‘Wait up, Sir’, was previously shared as a single release last year and definitely deserves a second push.

Make some time in your day for this joyous celebration of rock ‘n roll.
