‘Better On Screen’ is the work of Brighton’s Larlin, and they are certainly a band on the rise.
Larlin – Better On Screen
Larlin were founded in Brighton in 2024, with a clear vision to find themselves among the best bands in the land. This vision takes true shape on ‘Better On Screen’.
Slapping drums kick off ‘Better On Screen’ and immediately a wall of indie rock forms around them. The introduction of the sultry vocals is subtle yet powerful, and lead singer Maryann Hoar provides emotionally charged, thought-provoking lyricism throughout.
The slow build into the chorus is necessary for the smack-in-the-face chorus to take full effect. The lengthy chorus provides the listener with so many head-bopping ideas.
A soft electric guitar shines in the second verse, before a second coming of the chorus. A lovely, ascending guitar riff dazzles as the last chorus takes precedence. The backing of established producers is noticeable as the track is beautifully raw in its conception, yet flawless in its production.
Building on their previous release ‘Favours’, which is a stand-alone hit, Larlin prove they can do it again. I expect great things from this band in the future and am happy to watch their rise as they continue to deliver musical excellence.
‘Larlin display genuine grit and glamour on ‘Better on Screen.’
