About RCM Right Chord Music

Right Chord Music (RCM) is the unsigned music blog. We’ve been championing incredible unsigned and independent artists since 2010.

We are proud to be ranked in the Top 5 independent music blogs and websites by Feedspot. Our mission is to get music heard by more people, more often. So how do we deliver this?

Since launching the RCM new music blog in 2010 we have continued to evolve and grow our offering.

Discover the ways we support independent artists

RCM unsigned music blog. Free vs Paid

We believe in transparency. It is completely free to submit your music to the RCM Blog. But we now charge £6 for a review this allows us to attract and retain more freelance writers. After all, the more writers we have, the greater chance you have of being reviewed.

The RCM unsigned music blog is non for profit

Please note you have a choice to accept or reject the offer made to you by a writer.  There is no obligation to accept their offer. It’s your choice. The RCM team of freelance writers charge £6 for a review on the RCM Blog. 100% of the money goes to the writer. The RCM Blog is not run for profit. The small amount of money made from advertising is reinvested to promote the blog and the artists we feature. Our aim is to support as many incredible unsigned artists as possible and to attract the largest possible audience for your music.

Our partner blogs within the RCM Indie Collective are free to set their own prices. Expect to pay between £6- £10 for a feature. You can read a profile of our partner blogs on our submissions page.  A representative of that blog will email you if they want to feature you

Quality thresholds

Our blog is our brand and we only publish high-quality music and support artists we believe in. We have worked hard to grow our following since 2010. There is no benefit to us in publishing poor content especially when there is no financial benefit to us. Please recognise we don’t ever guarantee a review to anyone. You can’t pay your way onto RCM. All RCM submissions are vetted and any that fail to meet our quality thresholds (Great music, working links, professional standard artwork, bio or story) will be deleted and not considered for review.

All content published on the RCM Blog is eligible to be shared across our social channels which include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin and Reddit.

The role of unsigned music blogs

While our blog does get more people listening to your audio or video we are under no illusions about the primary role we play. The primary role of a music blog is credible, third-party endorsement. It’s your chance to say to the world – “look someone other than my Mum loves our music!” To turn listeners into fans takes time and typically people need to know your name before they listen to your music. We’ll shout your name from our socials and optimise our content for SEO, so if people search your name they will find positive affirmation about the quality of your music.

Who visits the RCM unsigned music blog

We attract visitors from all over the world (175 different countries and counting) In the last year 35% of traffic has come from the UK and 17% from the US. The other countries which typically feature in our top 5 include Germany, Canada and Australia.

One-third (33%) of RCM Blog visitors are aged 25-34, 27% are 18-24yrs old and 39% of our audience is aged 35yrs old+. The gender split is 54% male and 46% female.

The RCM indie collective

We are now inviting select independent and unsigned music blogs, play-listers, DJs, Podcasters and live promoters to access our central submissions as part of a new initiative called the Right Chord Music Indie Collective.

This allows us to collectively champion and support more incredible new music. One free submission to RCM gives you the chance to be featured on multiple blogs, playlists or even get your music on Soho Radio. A current list of partners can be found on the submissions page.

If you are a blogger, play-lister, podcaster, DJ or live promoter interested in joining The RCM Indie Collective please get in touch here.
