Alex Mountain Gets Vulnerable On ‘Flame’

Alex Mountain Flame on Right Chord Music

Alex Mountain is a singer-songwriter from Surrey, England, inspired by Bon Iver and Gabrielle Aplin.

Alex Mountain – Flame

Alex Mountain has been writing since his adolescence about mental health and the pressures of society.

Since his debut single Blizzard in 2019, Alex has gone from strength to strength, playing gigs at different venues around the UK and gaining support from BBC Introducing. He has now just released his new single, Flame, which is hauntingly beautiful.

The song opens with an atmospheric intro that immediately sets a moody, immersive tone. The first lyrics we hear are, “I forgot what it’s like to feel vulnerable” — a line that carries a quiet heaviness, speaking to the cost of emotional survival and what gets left behind when you forget how to feel exposed.

A relentless rhythm of heavy toms creates a trance-like state, and a subtle layer of acoustic guitar textures the mix with warmth and intimacy, while the delicate vocals wrap around the melody, giving emotional depth and a ritualistic energy to the track.

About halfway through, we hear ghostly harmonies that float like whispers through fog, giving a spectral quality to the track — as if they’re calling from beyond.

“An atmospheric masterpiece that will have you hooked on your first listen.”

The song feels ceremonial and powerful, like a spiritual summoning through sound. After engaging the listener in a dream-like state, the music cuts off without warning, which feels like a dream being interrupted before it can end naturally.
