‘Limbo’ is the new single from Larlin. A divine beauty flows through the track. Powerful, poetic lyrics ignite a journey through the mind.
Larlin – Limbo
Larlin were founded in Brighton in 2024, with a clear vision to find themselves among the best bands in the land. A vision I am now certain has real clarity and is well within reach. Larlin build on their previous single ‘Better on screen’, a song I’ve reviewed previously and had the highest praise for. They are an intriguing, up-and-coming indie band, and I am seriously excited about their future.
‘Limbo’ is their new single. It explores the battle of knowing when to let go and struggling with the ultimate decision. A feeling we all know too well. Simple, purposeful lyrics kick off the beginning of the verse. They are poetic in nature and powerful in delivery. The song offers different escapes. The verses force the listener to hang on every word. The chorus excites the nervous system and drags us willingly into an unknown existence.
The outro offers an introspective look at why we decide to make the decisions that we do. The constant building and switching throughout the song, with intentional layering of intensifying sounds, mesh beautifully with the purpose of the song. The great unknown is explored with serious thought and unbridled passion simultaneously.
Lead singer and songwriter Maryann Hoar is beautifully unfiltered in her approach to music. This raw energy is complemented by the capable talents of producers Lewis Foord (Wet Leg, LYRA and Conor Maynard) and Cameron Nesbitt (Lovejoy, James Marriott, Luna Blue).
The product is an obvious mesh of these worlds. Larlin consistently produces emotionally driven, thoughtful music. More is to come from Larlin, with more singles for the tail end of the year and an EP in early 2026 on the way. I wait with genuine anticipation for Larlin’s musical journey to unfold.
“Larlin do it again with ‘Limbo’, a sensational ballad rooted in themes of passion and indecision’”
