Atlantic Rift unleashes metal mayhem with their new track ‘Lucid Thoughts’.
Atlantic Rift – Lucid Thoughts
Atlantic Rift are a five-piece metalcore band, hailing from Aberdeen, Scotland. After the double single release of ‘Void’ & ‘Delve’ in February of 2025, the wait is now over as they have just dropped their new single ‘Lucid Thoughts’.
The band is made up of Straun Davidson (main vocals), Josh Shearer (drums), Wojtek Baczek (Bass), Max Lastockin (Lead guitar and backing vocals) and Aiden Biggs (guitar and vocals) and are known well on the local scene for their lively, adrenaline-fuelled live shows.
Right from the off, we’re hit with a wall of heavy sound. The drums hit hard and fast, propelling the song forward with an energetic pace that adds a sense of urgency and excitement. This track really does kick the door down and scream in your face when the low-end guttural lyrical performance comes in. Here, the vocals we hear are a mix of deep and guttural blended with a higher-pitched, almost banshee-like sound.
We’re propelled into the chorus, this time hearing clean singing layered over gritty, more aggressive vocals, creating a powerful contrast. This happens again halfway through the song when we get to an interlude; however, the clean vocals are almost angelic and are carried through on a beautiful wave of guitar sound, which leads us into a heavenly guitar solo.

The calm is then shattered by a monstrous drop, launching us headfirst into blast beats and fierce lead vocals executed with rage-fuelled delivery, ending the interlude and giving us another juxtaposition chorus, a clean, harmonic vocal track is delivered along with the heavier more aggressive vocals we’ve heard throughout the track, conveyed by a resonant guitar riff and punchy drums, leading us to the end of the track.
