Copenhagen’s own Mirby makes her mark with her debut EP ‘Like This’, which contrasts sadness with uplifting energy.

Emerging from Copenhagen, Denmark, Mirby is an exciting artist who has discovered her voice through a fusion of R&B, pop, and funk, woven together with alternative arrangements. Her debut EP Like This is deeply significant—not only as her first official release but also as a personal milestone. The project was shaped by joy and tragedy, as Mirby lost her father during the creative process, a loss that left an undeniable imprint on the work.
Even with that weight, Like This delivers plenty of memorable moments. Across its five songs, the EP moves between carefree grooves and thoughtful reflections. The title track, Like This, sets the tone with a fun, beat-driven pop explosion, carried by Mirby’s bold and confident vocal delivery. Although brief, it serves as an unforgettable opener.
The second track, Biosphere, explores one of the most profound themes on the EP. Inspired by her late father’s philosophy, the song reflects his belief that humanity can become the consciousness of the earth only by uniting and caring for it. This message is wrapped in chilled, atmospheric production that gives the track a meditative, spiritual aura while encouraging deeper thought on such an important subject.
On What is Sexy? Mirby takes a direct stand against harmful stereotypes tied to beauty, questioning and confronting shallow perceptions. The track lands a sharp blow to patriarchal ideals through smooth, alluring R&B production, balancing its critical message with engaging, carefully crafted melodies.
Almost Getting There offers a shift toward inspiration. In it, Mirby encourages listeners to keep dreaming and pushing forward, even in the face of anxiety and society’s constant judgment. The funky rhythms and irresistible instrumentation turn the track into one of the most upbeat and motivating highlights of the project.
To close the EP, Gone stands as Mirby’s most heartfelt and vulnerable track so far. Stripped down to an acoustic ballad, it is a tribute to her father, filled with raw emotion and honest lyricism. Loneliness and longing are at the core of the song, giving the EP a striking and emotional conclusion.
