Luna Rosa delivers the striking track, The Luge, tapping into the dance-punk spirit of the early 2000s NYC scene.
Luna Rosa – The Luge
Hailing from Northamptonshire, Luna Rosa is a four-piece made up of Rory McDade (guitar, lead vocals), Callum Connachie (bass), Aidan Furey (lead guitar), and Jack Connolly (drums). While their sound is grounded in post-punk and alternative rock, the band shows clear versatility, at times bringing in touches of blues, punk, and indie rock to shape their atypical style.
With plenty of experience behind them, Luna Rosa have toured extensively across the UK, playing hundreds of shows, including sold-out and headline dates. They’ve also appeared at festivals such as Dot To Dot Festival, sharing stages with established acts like Reef, The Horrors, Lightning Seeds, Glen Matlock, Space, and The Bluetones. Radio support has followed, with airplay from outlets including BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music, and Radio X, alongside dozens of stations across Europe.
After a four-year gap, Luna Rosa makes a decisive return with The Luge. The track draws clear inspiration from the relentless drive of The Walkmen’s The Rat, while leaning into the pulse of classic dance-punk. Lyrically, it layers in references to figures such as Bruce Lee and Jean-Claude Van Damme, with a standout moment arriving when Rory delivers the chant “Parabellum.” Beyond its nod to John Wick, the phrase echoes its Latin meaning, “if you want peace, prepare for war”, tying directly into the song’s central idea of confronting your inner demons.
Fittingly, when it comes to the instrumentation, the song doesn’t hold anything back, coming in strong with fast-paced guitar work and a dazzling bassline that seems to yell “adrenaline.” That only builds further when Rory’s vocals take the spotlight, cutting through like a ferocious roar that hits like a sudden punch to the jaw.
“The Luge is a powerful, straight-to-the-chase musical delight. If you want to make a return with an exclamation mark, this is the way to do it!”
