Following the release of their debut album Crying Lafter earlier this year, Manchester-based alt-pop/rock duo Dafties return with another irresistible single, Thrift Store.
Dafties – Thrift Store
Formed by vocalist Rae Elizabeth and guitarist Connor Taylor, Dafties have built a strong reputation in a remarkably short time. Between November 2024 and September 2025, the pair released five singles, a live recording distributed by Ameritz, and their 10-track debut album, a remarkable run for any emerging act.
Their momentum has been reflected in streaming success too, surpassing 100,000 plays within their first year and earning features on BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio USA/UK, and Zeno FM. With Thrift Store, Dafties continue to push forward with confidence and charm.
And to continue this streak, Dafties shared the song Thrift Store, which is about being unapologetically in love, despite social side-eyes due to the toxic nature of the relationship. We playfully used a thrift store (charity shop) as a metaphor for all the random places you wouldn’t mind showing your love to that one special person…and even getting into petty domestics with them in the middle aisle of the shop/store under both your breathes, because you both awkwardly don’t want to draw attention, but you still want to insert relationship dominance.
Much like the emotion that inspired it, Thrift Store radiates heartfelt sentiment through every note. Rae’s expressive vocals intertwine beautifully with Connor Taylor’s infectious guitar work, creating a sound that feels both intimate and uplifting. The track not only marks a standout moment in Dafties’ catalogue but also showcases the undeniable chemistry that drives their artistry forward.
“Thrift Store is a tender alt-pop gem, carrying a dreamlike charm that feels comforting and sincere, a song that gently sweeps you into a serene, melodic haze where love and vulnerability intertwine.”
Thrift Store will feature on Dafties’ upcoming EP Tea, slated for release early next year, a project already shaping up to be another key milestone in the duo’s evolving career.
